Tamtams is a music appreciation class that helps little ones grow into awesome arts loving human beings!
Music promotes happy successful child development. Studies have shown that music impacts the developing brain, resulting in greater memory and cognitive abilities than children not exposed to music. Learning music teaches patience and perseverance, develops organization and time management, nurtures the concept of quality practice (working smart) versus quantity, develops self-expression and reduces stress.
Tamtams explores music through songs, percussion, creative movement, games and musical stories. Tamtams aims to give kids a great start on their music journey! Children learn about proper breath technique (critical at any age), mind body connection and the voice. They are introduced to songs in French, English and Spanish and are exposed to music from different time periods, styles and countries. The resulting benefits are an expanded music repertoire and the beginnings of cultural awareness. They learn fundamentals of music (rhythm and note names) through exercises played on percussion instruments. They are also encouraged through creative movement to nurture their listening skills and discover new music through dance.
Most importantly Tamtams classes are fun. When we wish only the best for our children, the love of an art form such as music is a gift we give our children that is theirs to keep for a lifetime.
