As a young singer I never saw myself as a teacher, however after my children were born I started to look for work opportunities closer to home and my family. I took a chance and opened a home studio and started giving classes in piano and voice, and since then have added ukulele, guitar and drums. I was surprised at how much I fell in love with my students and the work. They became my children and I loved them as much and got as frustrated with them as much as I did my own!

We all know that a musical environment enhances cognitive skills, fine motor skills and that the benefits of learning an instrument are endless. Education in the arts at even a very young age expands a child’s world. I have seen children with difficulties in school academically, behaviorally or socially come into my studio and be changed. They see themselves able to focus, learn and create in an environment that interests them and their confidence in themselves improves tremendously. Hopefully with time, this trickles into other parts of their lives.

Music also touches us on an emotional level and allows us to discover and feels things that are otherwise difficult to express.

As professional musicians we having the benefit and experience to be faced with the same challenges as our students when learning new music. We develop the skill to learn one note at a time until one day we can play it all and we ask our students to do the same! There is no better feeling of accomplishment than when you achieve what you think is out of reach.

Students are encouraged to develop self-expression while learning the fundamentals of solid musicianship and technique. My objective is to create magical moments for students, that nurtures their passion for the arts.
